Counselor Training
Counseling is not about fixing people or having all the right answers. It’s about listening deeply, asking good questions, and helping people move forward in their lives and relationships with courage, love, and faith.
We can all get better at these things (and should), but some people are especially gifted for this vitally important work. Our training will give you the knowledge, skills, and self-awareness to identify and use your gifts.
Respero counselor training courses consist of 3 online courses.
Understanding Yourself
Discover the root of why we do what we do and develop better strategies for being a great lover--of ourselves and others.
Understanding Relationships
Understand what makes relationships strong and great, and what destroys them. Grow in your ability to love and enjoy the important people in your life.
Counseling Skills & Practicum
Get an in-depth look at the most important skills required for effective counseling. Observe live counseling sessions and practice your skills.

A Note From Joe
The counselor training track is the heartbeat of what we do at Respero. We developed this curriculum to train people to use their counseling gifts in many settings. What that looks like will be different for everyone–but the goal is the same–to have more healthy and healing conversations happening in this world.
Whether you want to be part of our Respero counseling team, lead a staff, work as a volunteer at your church, love having heart to heart conversations over coffee or just want to gain skills for healthy conversations, this training is for you.
If you have any questions about the counselor training program or if it is a good fit for you, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
“This course truly gave me skills I was looking for to work more effectively with people as they present an issue. I was more prepared to listen well, ask the right questions and help people to see what the next task and/or goal would be for them. I was able to understand my part in process as well as cautions I needed to take to be able to assist in moving the process forward. I highly recommend this class to anyone who finds themselves in situations where others are looking to them for counsel, coaching or mentoring.”
